Our Annual Fly-fishing Tourney Nets Trout and Prizes

Sunny skies and crisp autumn air helped to create the perfect ambiance for the Eleventh Annual Adult Fly Fishing Tournament held by the Friends of Caleb Smith Preserve on Saturday, October 19. The event, held at a specific fishing area on the Nissequogue River in Smithtown, brought in a number of trout from seven serious anglers and, in turn, seven prizes.

•  First prize, a TFO rod and reel, went to Al Albano of Stony Brook for catching the most fish: nine.

•  Second prize, a $50 Campsite gift card, to Tom Zapf Jr., of Setauket, for catching the largest fish: 15-1/2 inches.

•  Third prize, a $25 Campsite gift card, to Tom Zapf Sr. of Setauket, for catching the second-most fish: four.

•  Fourth prize, a fishing vest, to Tom Tokosh of Smithtown for catching the second largest fish: 14 inches.

•  Fifth prize, a creel, to John White of Smithtown for catching the third-most fish: three.

•  Sixth prize, a walking stick, to Gordon Smith of Nesconset for the third largest fish: 13-1/2 inches.

•  Seventh prize, a landing net, to Michael Albano of Huntington for the fourth largest fish: 12
